Singing Bowl Massage

In this vibroacoustic massage therapy, we combine sound vibrations applied near or on the body through a set of specially crafted Tibetan Singing Bowls. Each bowl generates different fundamental frequency and a range of overtone frequencies. The bowls are either struck using Nepalese cushioned strikers or rimmed by using leather wrapped mallets as per Tibetan Protocol. Different bowls are arranged as per Tibetan Therapy layout, which has been mastered over the decades to give deep relaxation to body and mind.

Just like Ultrasound is used for medical investigations and threptic purposes in pain relief and healing, these bowls generate sound waves across a wide range of frequencies that provide a gentle and soothing massage to muscles and inner organs through scientific principle of resonance. On completion of the session, the participant feels lightness and relaxation.

This massage also refreshes the brain as studies have revealed that through singing bowl therapy, the brain wave frequencies are lowered from Beta waves to Alpha/Theta waves, which promotes body healing and creativity. Lowering of the brain wave frequencies has deep relaxing effect on body mind similar to a meditative effect.

The session includes a mini sound bath involving immersion into a wide frequency vibrations generated by multiple sound equipment like Gongs, Chimes, Rain Stick, Ocean Drum, Thunder tube, Coconut rattlers, twist drum etc. The calming natural sounds of these instruments played by a trained professional induces a vibrational massage though the body resulting in a unique feeling of rejuvenation and relaxation. Repeated sessions of this therapy can help avoid potential ailments that are psychosomatic in nature.

Clinical and experimental reports have consistently linked singingbowl interventions to acute relaxation. Studies have reported neurophysiological shifts compatible with a meditative state, functional changes in autonomic indices and reduced cortical activity. In a study conducted, professional singingbowl massage decreased global EEG power and made considerable reductions specifically in beta2 and gamma bands, interpreted as a shift toward a mindful, meditative state of consciousness. Autonomic modulation heart rate decreased following a singingbowl massage. Short soundbased sessions produced increased heartrate variability (HRV) and reduced objective stress indices in randomized or comparative studies, consistent with increased parasympathetic tone. Himalayan singingbowl exposure also led to greater decline in systolic blood pressure and heart rate. Multiple small trials and authorreported courses observed reductions in selfreported anxiety, improved mood/tension/wellbeing, and improved sleep quality after courses of vibroacoustic treatments.
