Frequently Asked Questions

Q1:- What is sound healing therapy?

• Sound healing is a holistic practice that uses sound vibrations to bring balance and harmony to the body and mind.
• It differs from traditional music therapy by focusing on specific frequencies and vibrations that resonate with the body, acting like a “tune-up” for your mind and body.
• The practice is based on the idea that your body, being mostly water, responds to and is affected by vibrations, which can promote a state of relaxation and healing.

•  Instruments like singing bowls, gongs, and tuning forks are played, and their vibrations travel through the body.

•  These frequencies can shift your brain waves from a busy, active state to a more relaxed, dreamlike state, lowering heart rate and blood pressure.

•  This deep relaxation response can reduce stress hormones, trigger the release of “feel-good” chemicals in the brain, and improve immune function.

•  Stress and anxiety reduction

•  Improved sleep quality

•  Enhanced emotional clarity and mood

•  Increased focus and creativity

•  Pain relief

•  A greater sense of inner calm and balance

•  Most sessions last between 45 minutes and an hour.

•  You will typically lie down on a mat or be in a comfortable, supported position.

•  The practitioner will use various instruments to create sound vibrations around you.

•  You don’t need to do anything but relax with an open mind; many people fall asleep during a session.

•  It is generally suitable for most people, including beginners and those with no prior meditation experience.

•  However, it is recommended to consult a healthcare provider before a session if you have conditions like epilepsy, are in the first trimester of pregnancy, or have a pacemaker.

•  The frequency varies depending on individual needs, but a general recommendation is 1-2 sessions per month.

•  Benefits are cumulative, so regular sessions are highly recommended to achieve deeper, more lasting healing.

Marma therapy, or Marma Chikitsa, is a traditional healing system from Ayurveda that focuses on stimulating specific, vital energy points (known as marma points or varmam points) on the body. These points are considered key energy hubs where muscle, nerves, bones, ligaments, and vessels converge, and they are also the seats of prana (life energy). Stimulating these points helps to unblock energy channels (nadis) and promote the body’s natural healing process.

According to classical Ayurvedic texts like the Sushruta Samhita, there are 107 primary marma points located throughout the body.

Marma therapy works by activating specific points through various techniques like gentle pressure, tapping, rubbing, or the application of medicated oils. This stimulation activates appropriate brain centers and modulates the nervous system to regulate bodily functions, improve circulation, and restore the flow of life energy, which in turn alleviates pain and promotes relaxation.

Marma therapy can help address a wide range of physical and mental ailments, particularly those related to the bones, nerves, and mind. It is commonly used for:

•  Pain relief (chronic pain, backache, sciatica, knee pain, headaches)

•  Stress, anxiety, and emotional imbalances

•  Improved circulation and digestion

•  Neurological issues such as paralysis and cerebral palsy

•  Overall rejuvenation and increased energy levels.

While both Marma therapy and acupressure/acupuncture involve stimulating specific points on the body, they originate from different philosophies and have different applications. Marma therapy uses a variety of touch techniques (not just pressure), and its system of points and methods is distinct from traditional Chinese medicine practices.

Marma therapy is generally safe when performed by a trained and qualified practitioner. If performed incorrectly (e.g., wrong pressure or location), it can cause discomfort, temporary soreness, or bruising. It is important to consult a healthcare provider before beginning treatment, especially if you have pre-existing conditions like heart disease, cancer, or are pregnant.

The number of sessions required can vary depending on the individual and the condition being treated. Some people may feel relief after just one session, while chronic conditions might require a series of treatments to experience lasting benefits.
